The Wild Souls Rhythm: Dancing Our Own Song – Freedom and Transformation

Have you ever considered your desire for movement, a particular sound or style of music, as being moved from a deeply soulful, free and sacred place? That your movement, especially to music or sound, originates from the cosmos that breathes life through you? Have you considered that you even have a wild, free soul, a natural dancer, a soulful singer emanating from the source within? I didn’t, as a younger woman, I loved to dance, walk, ride, climb and laugh. It wasn’t until undertaking a deep journey of inquiry, exploring movement, music, discovering, listening and finally silent transformation. Questioning, where does this energy that silently moves within me and everything, like the earth’s pulse, appear to somehow hum with the universe’s unique song?

In the process of me ‘unfolding’ and dismantling the occupied self, thus getting to know ‘me’ who hadn’t even been met yet, she emerged, called forth to the surface through surrender, movement and music, it seems, this process gave her the keys which for me, was like the weaving process of sacred water following its natural path healing as it moves toward freedom. Yet, in reality, this process isn’t new; these two keys to unlocking the blueprint of freedom within, in harmony together, are something that ancient tribes, Healers, Shamans, Mayan priests and their ancestors have long since known.

Whether ancient peoples knew this instinctually or were simply innately aware of the force of nature, her wisdom, teachings and mystery are unclear. Perhaps they were silently moved to create the sound of the universe through voice, instruments, rhythmical celebrative or ceremonial movement, inspired by nature and her constant pulse emanating through both. Susan Alexjander would like to think so; she discovered in her move toward the discovery and creation of music born of humans, along with molecular biologists, that our organs and DNA vibrate inwardly, each at a specific resonance. Alexjander also uncovered that when exploring ancient instruments and their sound, their notes vibrate in alignment with tones that heal and calm, akin to the well-known Schumann resonances and Solfeggio sounds.

Now, picture the women Clarissa Pinkola Estés describes in  Women Who Run with the Wolves : barefoot, under the cosmic starlight, hips swaying, voices rising, mimicking nature in a primal chant, giving and receiving in all their energy in honour of that which created them. This is the Wild Souls Dance , where unity meets chaos, and the body becomes the vessel for truth, for healing, moving rhythmically to the sounds of the drums, flutes, and pan. Where the sacred sticks engender a beat that mirrors the soul’s deepest whispers brought forth by melodic beating and floating sound reverberating in the bones, singing our fragmented and lost bones back to life.

If you are drawn to freedom, move, dance your song, inquire and discover the secrets and the rhythm of your subtle wild soul; begin the journey into this sacred space, with a solfeggio frequency. Start perhaps with 528 Hz, known for promoting healing and transformation. Play it softly, stand, gently sway, or shift your weight whichever way you are moved to, without judgment, notice when the mind begins babbling, then ignore it. Notice where the energy in the body, subtly feels sortof, stuck or not flowing….bring attention to your shoulders, maybe they’re tight, ask silently this infinite intelligence, is this energy or knot linked to something else, perhaps your chest holds a weight, could it be linked to your hips, explore, discover, play! Ask, “What needs to move? What seeks to be free?”

This is not a choreographed step but a truthful conversation with your wild free soul, you may find a rhythm that shakes loose one of the four core wounds, perhaps it shares with you fragments of fear, shame, or disconnection, maybe it tells you it hasn’t been seen, showing you what keeps you small. The movement itself isn’t important, nor is the type of sound; our ancestors, tribes, and ancient peoples knew that creativity through movement and sound is part of our medicine. It is creativity unbound, a howl that calls to us from deep within, albeit in a whisper that somehow doesn’t appear to exist, yet tells the story of “I am alive.”

Music that moves, deepens this universal and cosmic dance, reflecting your inner world, as it would if you stared into a clear pool, seeing what the eyes cannot see for themselves. That which created you, can heal you, solfeggio tones and ancient sounds ( chants or ceremonial music) that resonate to 417 Hz move and calm the rigid colours of our soul, breathing the lifeblood of movement into being.

If a yearning, from a sense of loss, of one of connection, the 639 Hz carries gifts beyond sound, it dances an inner tune that aligns the body and spirit, as Valerie Hunt’s work on energy fields suggests, it vibrates in harmony with the universe’s pulse. Try 417 Hz, breathe, sit or sway back and forth, asking, “Where do I feel stuck? Where else does this live in me?” You might sense tightness in your throat echoing your heart’s desire to voice its wisdom, which abides in wait, giving a clue to a story the body wants told.

Or, do as our most wise have always done, hum, hum to the 639 Hz, let go, allow your voice to weave a melody, that’s just for you to hear, then listen, for the silent answer, to “Where do I feel connected?’ or ‘where does it feel the most grounded?’. Notice even where an old injury occurred, how ‘the energy’ somehow seems more protective, what’s hiding in there? This is music, like listening to the soul’s mirror, revealing what’s buried, voicing it, calling it into the light.

Blending these practices, playing with what sound moves you, dancing to free the body, singing or humming to free the spirit, and creating opens the wisdom of the heart, maybe even spark laughter or may even move you to tears. A shared hum or call with the voice of our own becomes a collective song, echoing Estés’ women who sang to their bones, bringing them back from the dust, calling to the fragmented parts of ourselves that seem lost, sing the song of your soul, calling to the power of the heart when they were lost and confused.

Your wild, untamed yet wise unified soul thrives deep within the heart, not alone in the wilderness, but in unity with everything, like wolves running in a pack, their howls a chorus of belonging. Each step, each note, is a reclaiming of wisdom, of being seen, a path to freedom that ripples outward, touching all others silently with the power of your light.
