Cervical Dystonia management and chiropractic care
Cervical dystonia is a focal movement disorder characterized by involuntary, sustained or intermittent contractions of the cervical musculature, often resulting in abnormal head posture, pain, and sleep disturbance. While botulinum toxin remains a primary medical intervention, conservative co-management strategies may provide additional support. In select patients, chiropractic care—particularly when emphasizing precise, low-amplitude adjustments, joint mobility restoration, and neuromuscular balance—may help reduce mechanical irritation and secondary muscle guarding. In recent cases within my practice, patients have reported improved resting muscle tone, enhanced cervical control, decreased discomfort, and better sleep quality. As always, care is individualized, safety-screened, and coordinated appropriately within the patient’s broader care team.😃
